Kindergarten is a big milestone in your child’s life. It’s not just about learning basic academic skills, but it also opens avenues for your child to be able to explore their developing social, emotional, and motor skills. The children start to understand how to interact with others, solve problems, follow routines, and gain a sense of independence. These early experiences help shape the children’s confidence and be able to set the foundation for their future learning. It’s a time when they begin to explore their interests and develop a love for learning, all in a safe and nurturing environment.
At Kidz R Kidz we provide our families with a government funded 3- and 4-year-old kindergarten program with our qualified and experiences Early Childhood teacher. We prioritise the emotional intelligence of our children and aim to build strong relationships with our children to help the children grow and achieve their milestones. This helps create a foundation where the children can feel safe, valued and be ready to engage within their learning. By fostering respect, empathy and creativity we are not only preparing the children academically, but we are also preparing the children emotionally and socially. These areas help the children to be able to build and develop their confidence in any challenges they face in life and help build positive relationships with one another. This is the key to the children in being successful and will help the children with a smooth transition when transitioning into the primary school life.
Across our year at Kidz R Kidz we will focus on a variety of different learning areas across our 4 terms. Below is a guide that will provide families with knowledge on what topics the children will learn to feel prepared for school.
Educators will build and establish safe and secure relationships with families and children. This will help build respect, kindness and honesty. Learning wise our aim is to introduce and teach the children about colours, seasons, weather, letters, and sounds, and also numbers. Introducing concepts like colors, seasons, weather, letters, sounds, and numbers at this stage helps set a solid foundation for future academic skills. These areas are fun to explore, and children often learn best when they’re actively engaged in hands-on activities and play.
Introducing shapes, categorizing animals, and engaging in cooking experiences are all ways to make learning hands-on and enjoyable. These activities not only teach essential academic concepts but also help develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and fine motor skills. The focus on school readiness, such as learning to write their names and recognize them, is key for a smooth transition to primary school. It builds their confidence and helps them feel more prepared for the structure and routines of a classroom setting.
Learning about numbers, living and non-living things, countries, and continents helps children begin to understand the world around them in a deeper way. It’s wonderful that you’re introducing them to such a broad range of concepts that will build their cognitive skills and awareness of the larger world. Incorporating school readiness through letters, sounds, name tracing, and numbers is such a hands-on way to prepare them for what’s ahead. These activities support fine motor skills, literacy development, and numeracy in a natural, interactive way
At Kidz R Kidz we aim in creating holistic and supportive learning environment! Teaching about the human body and healthy lifestyles is so important, as it instills habits early on that can last a lifetime. “Lunch Box Week” sounds like a fun and practical way to teach kids about healthy eating and responsibility and involving them in bringing their own lunch boxes adds an extra layer of excitement and learning about nutrition.
School tours are a wonderful idea for preparing them for the transition to primary school! Giving children the chance to explore their future school environment helps reduce any anxiety and makes the change feel more familiar and comfortable.
Our little achievers will be graduating, which is the most rewarding part, watching the children graduate and prepare for school, must be such a proud moment for you and the families. Seeing them grow and gain confidence as they take this important step is truly special.
